Mayday Coffee shop was founded in 2023 by Austin Piona, and within just a few months has become a warm, welcoming community within the larger community. The perfect hub to let your creative juices flow, whether you are looking to rock a solo trip to get work done (FYI… Free, high-quality WIFI) or looking for a cool place to meet up with others, Mayday Coffee has got you covered. For starters, it is bright, open, airy and the modern bohemian ambience is that Pinterest dream aesthetic brought to life. I don’t know about you but nothing gets me in the right headspace like a positive, welcoming environment…well maybe except a cup of coffee, which conveniently this shop offers as well.
The carefully crafted, seasonally adjusted menu has different toasts, salads, sandwiches, bowls, and of course coffee, teas, and smoothies! They do have gluten free options available. One of our personal seasonal favorites (which we’ve gotten insider knowledge will not be on the Fall menu, so hurry in to try) is the Roasted Pepper Hummus Sandwich and the Summer Smores Cold Brew (which they literally put a roasted marshmallow on top..yum!) Not only do they offer delicious food and beverages but they are also a FRESH FLOWER SHOP that offers a variety of fresh flower arrangements, fresh flower bouquets, and dried-flower bouquets.They also have a specially curated selection of merchandise perfect for a gift to a friend or to yourself as a TREAT YOURSELF; Ranging from home goods, candles, body essentials, kids items, notebooks, Mayday Merch and more!
One of the things we have noticed in recent years is a loss of connection. In today’s world, especially post-pandemic, it’s so easy to lose connection to others and even ourselves. We often ask ourselves, for our own business, “What is the need of our community, and how we can help fulfill it”, and we always come back to CONNECTION. That’s why we love that Mayday Coffee Shop provides the space for this. The name itself literally originates from the word m’aider meaning “come and help me” and that’s exactly what local native, Austin, is quoted for being the vision behind opening Mayday Coffee Shop. After witnessing younger members of the local community struggling with mental health, he decided he wanted to find a way to help others get away from the day-to-day stress by bringing the “vibrance and positivity of the west coast” to West Chester, PA, and it is truly so special to see that vision come to life.
